Class Descriptions

Embodied Architectures (Sandra Portal-Andreu)

Dive into a dynamic exploration of spatial design through the intersection of Viewpoints and archetypal movement. This class invites dancers, actors, and movement artists to expand their physical awareness, composition skills, and storytelling potential. Through improvisation, structured exercises, and ensemble work, participants will activate their spatial sensitivity, explore the expressive power of archetypes, and discover new choreographic possibilities. This workshop fosters a deeper connection to time, space, and the collective body, empowering artists to create with intention, and intimacy.

SCD JAZZ SAMPLER(SCD Teaching Artists)

Sarasota Contemporary Dance is excited to launch a NEW intensive class, the SCD Jazz Sampler.  Intensive participants will be able to experience and learn from 5 different Sarasota Contemporary Dance company members, all with varying backgrounds and embodied practices. Participants will experience influences from Fosse, Broadway, Afro-Fusion, to Commercial Jazz.  This class is a great way for participants to immerse themselves into SCD by getting to know the company members and receiving their professional training!

SCD Rep:

Participants will be able to learn repertoire from Sarasota Contemporary Dance during the SCD Summer Intensive. Works originally choreographed by Artistic Director Leymis Bolanos Wilmott, restaged this summer by one of SCD Company members.
